Over on our FB Page we used it do themed weekends. One weekend in 2015 we decided to focus on certain houses from certain films. We researched each house to provide our followers some history of the houses they have seen on the big screen over the years.  Out of all these fictional houses one house has experienced true horror. On a November evening in 1974 on 112 Ocean Ave where the Defoe family was murdered. This house is known as the Amityville House.

Over the years the house has received thousands of visitors, so much so one of the owners decided to alter its look.

This Pasadena house was built in 1888. It is known as the “Century house” they were going to demolish it in 1988. It was saved and  deemed as historical and was not torn down. It is number 34 on the south Pasadena landmark list.

It was moved from Meridian Ave to Mission ST. It was relocated by a railroad track because the new owner (who purchased the house with a silver dollar) was only given a week to move it. Coincidentally, across the street is Nichols Hardware Store, where Micheal decided to go mask shopping once he arrived home. It is longer a residential home but a business.

The house is loved by many but someone took it a step further and decided to recreate the Myers home. Kenny Caperton of North Carolina had the house built from scratch. He took shots from the film since there were no blueprints available. The house can be visited by appointment or during his annual Halloween get together.

Our last home is in Texas and has such a history to it. Built in the 1900’s this Queen Anne house was used in 1974 for the film Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The house was a pattern book house that was purchased from a catalogue and built on site.

The house was cut into six pieces when it was moved in 1998. It was reassembled and restored back to it original condition.

An investor couple in Austin flipped the bill and hired master carpenter Anthony Maysfield. It is now located in Kingston TX on the Antlers Hotel as a restaurant on the property.
